Shanaghan Hill Farm is a medium sized family farm located in the heart of County Down near the hamlet of Katesbridge. The farm has been in the family for generations and is a destination for lamb that is produced sustainably and in harmony with nature. Our ethics and values are deep-rooted to the core of our business. We passionately believe in producing wholesome natural food that has been produced with respect for nature. We provide the highest possible animal welfare which together with the grass-fed diet produces superior lamb.
Our main farming enterprise is production of breeding sheep and lamb. We have a mixture of pedigree and cross bred ewes including native breeds such as the Clun Forest sheep and Blue Faced Leicester. We use terminal sires (the “dads”) such as Charollais and Beltex cross Charollais sires.
The farm is also home to a small equine enterprise where several quality Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horse mares produce beautiful foals each year. These mares and young horses are very much part of the “family” here and we take a huge interest in them as they progress through their careers.
